I've had an interest in clothing, textures and style for a really long time. I started going to fashion parties with my mum as her 'little helper' as soon as I could. My weekends were spent with Aunty Dorry learning how to sew. I soon brought my own sewing machine with the money I had made from mum's party plan.
When I was asked what I wanted to be when I was older my reply was always a fashion designer, landscaper or a builder. I loved the idea of creating beautiful things. I didn't think I would be taken seriously as a builder at the time so when I was 17 I opened my first fashion store in the Hunter Valley which was closely followed by the opening of two children's wear stores. I was always full of dreams for the future.
In 2009 I found myself divorced with 4 children. Through this period I'd found myself disconnected to my true love - fashion! So after the divorce I said 'I'm going to do what I want to do!'.
This decision saw me launch the fashion label BLING CREATIONS and the opening of my bricks and mortar stores.
My passion for this work took me to Bali twice a year to put together fabulous ranges. Over the next 5 years I travelled to many different countries to chase my dream of manufacturing, but in 2016 I fell in love with Italy and knew this was where I needed to be
IN 2016 I FELL IN LOVE WITH ITALY AND KNEW THIS WAS WHERE I NEEDED TO BE
I fell in love with the way of life, the culture and of course, the clothing. This lead me to launch my DONNA DONNA label comprising of mostly silks, linens and cottons.
Now, many trips later, I have formed wonderful relationships with my Italian manufacturers and fabric houses, they work closely with me to bring together my ideas for Australian women.
And believe me I turn up with hundreds of ideas, the hardest job is the elimination process because I LOVE EVERYTHING.
Italian linen is such a soft linen, it gets better the more it’s washed and nowadays does not require ironing. The majority of my customers only like natural fibres to keep them cooler, especially in our hot Australian summers, I love how timeless Italian fashion is! These garments never date and always hold their value. If Mr Bouris was to ask me what business are you in? My reply would be to make women feel and look good. I love to receive messages from ladies who are so thrilled with their purchases, or when a lady comes into one of my 8 stores and is so thankful for the honest and personal service my staff have given to them. They leave DONNA DONNA feeling so good about themselves and their purchases.
